Media Bias

It has been said that the mainstream media (television, newspapers and magazines) are biased toward the liberal agenda and do not fairly or accurately portray issues. The media tells us, however, that they don't make the news, just report it. Is that all they do?

Clearly the job of media cannot be to just report the news. Reporting is the end result, but the news must first be filtered. There are far too many stories to report on during any given day, week or month that can possibly fit into a television program, newspaper or magazine. Therefore, these organizations must begin by choosing which stories they'll cover. Once that task is complete, they must then decide which facts about the stories they'll focus on. After all, to report all the facts about any one story would exhaust the time or space available to the exclusion of stories about other issues. Is there potential in this system for organizational and/or personal bias to distort stories? Obviously.

The issue is not that the media must filter the news, but their constant denial that they do filter it, along with their attempts to portray themselves as innocent bystanders just gathering facts. One begins to wonder what they are hiding and what they don't want us to know? The organization below will shed light on the big picture and give balance to what is portrayed as the whole truth by the mainstream media.
